Pavlina Scasna studied Sports Marketing (IST) at the age of 23. She has been a professional football player in Germany, the USA and now in Sweden. “I did this course because as a professional sportsperson I wanted to work in the field of sport.” During her studies she could concentrate fully on the course. She recommends first reading the book, doing the written tasks, and then preparing the important aspects for the exams. Pavlina Scasna states: “IST for me is a very worthwhile education, which I will hopefully be able to apply in practice.”
Michael Rodenbach lives in Austria and works as a marketer of incentive products with customer contacts to Switzerland and Germany. After the course Tourism Management (IST) he changed his job place from a travel agency to a marketing agency with focus on incentives. “The degree at IST gave me advantages towards other job applicants. Today I apply the gained knowledge daily and it is essential material if you have to communicate with decision makers in marketing and sale.” Michael Rodenbach was working fulltime during the course at IST so that a distance learning course was the ideal choice. He says:” I could cope perfectly with the distance learning methodology. One of the reasons was probably that the study books were extremely understandably structured. You need good time management and also a bit discipline.” He states: “ Today I am very glad to have the degree and, in particular, the taught knowledge. I would recommend to anyone, who has the feeling of having a lack of skills for a certain job, to do such a study!”
Sabrina Klehenz motivation for studying the course Tourism and Sports Management at IST was to climb up the career ladder. Since she was living in a touristic area this was a good opportunity. Now she’s got a job as director at Gaschum-Partenen Tourism in Montafon (Austria). “The (IST) degree made a quick start in tourism possible for me.” The IST Institute seemed to be ideal for her as she was working as a full-time teacher. “I coped very well with work and studying due to the individual time schedule. Studying the books was interesting and the tasks were manageable”, she added. “I am very glad that I did this course. I have always been interested in the field of tourism. The course has made it possible in the end that I am now director of tourism in a well- known winter-sports destination.”
Stefan Wolf studied Sports Management at the IST when he was 33 years old. “Sports management offers a wide range, e.g., business administration, event marketing etc.” He was a professional football player when he was doing his studies and works now in Switzerland as a Sports Manager (http://www.wolfassist.ch/). “You have to be disciplined to be able to finish the studies but it is fun. And afterwards I could create marketing and sponsoring concepts myself.” Stefan Wolf states: “This course was a fantastic thing to do as I could do the continuing education beside football and it enabled me to study in my own time. The course was very well structured and offered a wide variety.”
Dr. Christiane Warasin studied at IST in the field of Tourism Marketing when she was 26 years old. She lives and works in Italy as a consultant in Tourism. With the course at IST she could specialize in communication and marketing. Even though she was working full time when she was doing the course Dr. Warasin managed to deal with the time pressure. Her recommendation for future students is: “You have to be determined and take initiative to be able to work through the study books periodically and should not wait until you start writing the thesis.” About the course she says: With help of the home thesis the theory gets more profundity and can be implemented into practice.”
Nicola Hieber works in Spain where she manages her own advertising agency and also works as a football scout. During her studies at IST she appreciated in particular the good foundation in club management and the international comparison. Ms Hieber was working full-time when she did the course in Sports Club Management. “I chose this course because I was very interested in sports particularly in football. And I wanted to find a job in this area”, she explains. “I had no problems with distance learning as I could organize my time myself.” Nicola Hieber states: “IST has clear and structured learning guidelines, clear learning goals, and good learning material.”
